Bruxism Night Guard
Do you know anything about dental implants in regards to people with bruxism?
I have absolutely horrible bruxism, but my night guard has made things much more pleasant. I still catch myself clenching during the day though.
About 10 years ago I got a root canal done on a tooth that my bruxism seemed to bother the most, even after the root canal. Now I am told that I need to get this tooth extracted.
The dentist informed me that I should go for a dental implant because in the long run, it’ll be better than getting a bridge. Is there anything I should know about dental implants and bruxism?
I had one patient who snapped off an implant in his mouth because of his heavy bruxism. There is a concern for people who do grind their teeth at nights. You can still have one but it would be wise to wear a good thick nightguard over the implant when you’re sleeping.
