Cheapest Sonicare Toothbrush

Friend problem – got her the wrong gift…?

I’ve been very close friends with “Lisa” for 10 years, from high school, college, etc. Recently she got mad at me and our friends she found out we each chipped in only $8 on her bday present (sonicare electric toothbrush). Believing it was a cheap and unthoughtful gift, she got upset (she always spend a lot of effort on everyone’s bdays). I explained that we got this because she mentioned long time ago it was what she wanted. However, I think I might have offended when I added it was materialistic to want stuff only from her wishlists. She not only is she still hurt, she is now also mad. It’s already been 1.5 weeks and I don’t what to do or say to save this friendship.
i did apologize. but she says she’s still hurt. and yea i asked her 2 time what she wanted, 2 months before her bday. she mentioned a electric toothbrush or a harddrive.

You didn’t HAVE to get her anything. She needs to remember that. You may have offended her but the truth hurts, you were right – she is bein’ very materalistic. You said “she always spend a lot of effort on everyone’s birthdays..” What she gets other people for their birthdays, and what she gets you for your birthday is entirely up to her. You could have gotten her a card, said Happy Birthday and been done with it. I, personally, would think it’d be cute if my bestfriends were to chip in and get me somethin’..

For example: My boss, in September, took me out to her car at break time and handed me a bag, on my birthday.. In the bag was a small bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos and a bottle of Mountain Dew. She knew I love both. She had taken the time to see that I get a bottle of Mountain Dew every day at work and more times than not, I can be seen eatin’ Nacho Cheese Doritos from a bag out of the vending machine. I smiled real big and couldn’t believe the thoughtfulness of her gift. It was truly one of the best things she had given me because she took time to get me what she knew I would enjoy.

Your friend mentioned that she wanted an electric toothbrush. You got her what she wanted. What’d she do? Go to the store and price them? Taacckkyy..
You did a good thing. You and your other friend did.
