What is the average cost of a gold or porcelain dental crown?

I was surprised at how high the price was for a “porc” crown at my dentist. (I assume that stands for “porcelain” and not, say, “porcine.”) What is a typical price for these things?

If you are asking the average cost of these crowns to a patient, $1000 -$1200 would be an average charge.
