Dental Floss Handle
how can i remove a safety handle attached with adhesive from our wood door without damaging the door or stain?
my neighbor put this on without our knowledge thinking it would be a safety measure for the kids… but we hate this safety lock. anyway, the instructions say to remove it by sliding thread or dental floss behind the adhesive but it is SO stuck to the door i cant even get between the adhesive and the wood. im tempted to use a screwdriver to tear it off but we stained this door ourselves with a mix we made and we dont have anymore… i really DO NOT WANT TO RUIN THE DOOR. the brand is Safety 1st and its a Lever Handle Lock. Try solvent.
Find an area of the door that you can try solvent on to make sure that it does lift the stain/coating.
Try these: mineral spirits, rubbing alcohol, acetone (nail polish remover) {increasing in strength from left to right , ie better solvent, but that also means that they are more likely to go after the stain/coating.
