Mouth Guard Clenching Teeth
Am I clenching or grinding my jaw / teeth in my sleep?
Last night, I had a dream where my jaw would lock tightly closed and wide open and I was unable to control it. I was also very distressed in my dream, and often have nightmares about tooth loss or ones when my jaw locks as described. I woke up today without jaw pain, but I ended up having to pop my jaw to make it as loose as it usually is. I don’t know if this is due to my suspicions, but my teeth feel very slightly sore if I clench them today. Should I invest in a mouth guard or is it all in my head? Is anyone familiar with this occurrence?

Yes, I would go ahead and get a NIGHT guard that you can fit according to instructions. It will only cost about $15, but it may save a lot of wear on your teeth. Once you start using it, it should ease some of that pain by cushioning your teeth. You’ll know that you’re actually grinding them by seeing the wear pattern on the guard.
