how do fix a marriage when u both have had an affair-mine due to neglect-his for revenge?

we have been together since we were 14 and we are now 29-two children and married for 7 years. i constantly catch him in lies and he wants me to trust him-but every time i let my guard down and try to show him a little trust he burns me. we love each other but have a HUGE communication breakdown. as long as i keep my mouth shut and have no opinion things are good-for him. hes very very selfish, which makes me insecure and then i rage and my tongue is like a samurai sword and i say things that i cant take back, which he then uses as his justification for his behavior. i didnt get married to get divorced. i believe we have made it together for this long thru some very rough times and that we were meant to be together. anyone have any advice or experience with this kind of situation?

No one can fix this but you two. How ever you both have to want to fix the problems. It has to be a partnership or it will never work. Trust is something that has to be earned when broken and there is a price to pay for broken trust on both sides. The best advice I could give you is for both of you to seek professional help that will help you to draw up an agreement in writting that you both sign and work on issues. This person or team of persons need to look at you objectively and not get involved in gender or emotional. they have to stay middle of the road to help you. This is difficult even for the best to do. but look for this type of help. This will help you to sort it out for you. Sometimes we make better friends than lovers and that doesn’t mean we can’t love that person for whom they are we just hate there behavior. for me and my husband it was better this way. We couldn’t live together due to trust issues i had with him but I still love him and he still loves me. It has been a couple of years and he is in one state and I am in another. It is better now. But for you and him I hope it will work out for the both of you since you have small children. Best of luck Debby:-)
