Receding Gums
Does anyone know of an operation which corrects Receding Gums?
My dentist says my gums are receding at the bottom. He says to correct this I need to have an operation to have the gums pulls over the gum margin. Has anyone had this done, and if so was it a success?
I am a dentist. I think what your dentist is referring to is a soft tissue, gingival graft. These are usually performed by Periodontists (gum specialists) but certainly can be performed by a general dentist with periodontal experience. They are successful, depending on the type of grafting done. Best to consult the specialist, and check out the following link for patients, from the American Dental Association.
