Stop Clenching Jaw
How can I stop clenching my jaw in my sleep?
I have a terrible headache along with neck pain and remember being in a dreamlike state last night where I felt myself clenching my jaw so tightly it hurt, but I could do nothing in that state to release the tension. Feeling really miserable as this is th 2nd day of this and it’s certainly not the first time either… any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, I have had one of those guards made before, but I take them out while I’m still asleep and totally unaware so they didn’t prove too helpful. I guess I’ll try some yoga to relieve some of the neck pain… wish I could just tell myself not to do this.
Bruxism (grinding the jaw during sleep) is hard to treat. There are dental appliances you can wear at night to reduce the wear and tear that this puts on teeth, but that’s about it. If you are taking any kind of medication, verify that bruxism is not a side effect of the meds.
